Fenugreek contains vitamin c, potassium, niacin, protein, fibre and iron. A compound called diosgenin present in fenugreek is very beneficial for female health as it has oestrogen like properties. Galactomman, a soluble fibre present in fenugreek slows down the sugar absorption rate in blood. Apart from that it contains amino acid needed for the synthesis of insulin in the body.
3. Bitter gourd
Bitter gourd (known as Karela in India) is one of the best natural herbal remedies for diabetes. It contains a compound called charantin which helps to keep the level of blood glucose on the lower side. It also increases the sensitivity of insulin hormone.
4. Olive Oil
Olive oil is extracted from the fruit of Olea Europaea (Olive tree). Olive oil contains Monounsaturated Fatty Acids (MUFAs) which is a healthy fat compared to saturated fats and trans fats. Intake of foods prepared with olive oil hugely reduces the risk of heart diseases. It helps to reduce Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and enhances insulin sensitivity. Thus olive oil proves to be one of the best natural treatment for diabetes.
